What is Nutrition

OFE is not a new invention but is basically practiced for millennia. Nevertheless, OFE is currently experiencing an upturn. More and more pet owners attach importance to close-to-nature feeding. Above all, the direct influence on the individual components of the feed is the focus for many pet owners at OFE.

Even in the Stone Age, it was customary to give dogs the remains of their own prey. And even today it is still common in many places to feed Caniden with kitchen waste, offal, and other animals remain. It was only at the beginning of the 1960s that the industry discovered a gap in the market: ready-to-eat food for dogs and cats was developed out of unusable grain and cheap slaughterhouse waste. These foods have been adapted over the years and further enriched with various flavors and aromas, so today there are various well-sounding foods on the market.

Ready-made food was a cheap and easy alternative to fresh meat and bones. By displaying ready-made food as a balanced, healthy diet, the ready-made food market has grown rapidly. For a long time, however, the number of typical lifestyle diseases such as growth and metabolic disorders, allergies, immunodeficiency and liver diseases continued to increase in dogs as well.

Many dog owners finally rethought. More and more dog owners are choosing OFE and decide for themselves what their dog gets into the bowl. In addition, they are increasingly enjoying piecing together a meal plan for their pet and creating a balanced meal for their four-legged friend through a healthy mix of fresh and frozen foods, vegetables, fruits and various supplements.

Why is OFE healthy?

Most ready-to-eat foods contain little of what a carnivore should primarily get, namely meat. Rather, a high protein content is often produced by a high proportion of cereal. But as with the human organism, vegetable protein is much harder to metabolize, so animal protein should be given preference. In addition, the quality of the ingredients of ready-made food often leaves something to be desired. Because what is processed in the production of human food is processed. For the “animal by-products” found on many ready-made food packs, these include, for example, fur, hooves, claws, feathers, and beaks. Also, the grain is often of inferior quality. Although in the course of the manufacturing process all germs that could contain this mix are killed, This makes the food sterile. However, for the dog’s immune system, it is important that it be required to be resilient. At OFE it is often criticized that fresh meat could contain a high germ density. However, this is important to strengthen the dog’s organism.

OFE is food as nature intended for carnivores. It contains all nutrients in a natural and therefore easily digestible form. Since it is based on the prey of a predator, it meets the needs of the dog. And it strengthens the immune system in many ways, on the one hand, strengthens this, on the other hand, but also trained. OFE is healthy.

Barefoot for beginners

More and more dog owners are discovering the advantages of raw feeding: OFE is species-appropriate, keeps the dog fit and healthy in the long term and offers him a varied, natural diet. However, only a few puppies are immediately fed with fresh meat, but changed over the course of their lives. It is a slow habituation already from the 5th week of life easily possible. No matter what age of the dog the decision is – barefoot for beginners is not complicated if you follow a few simple rules.

What advantages does OFE offer?

When barefoot, the holder knows exactly what comes with his pet in the bowl. Composition and origin of the ingredients can be chosen freely. OFE is always fresh and can be customized at any time as the dog’s needs change. Allergies, coat changes, stress, illness, age or pregnancy can be optimally taken into account through feed adjustments. The preferences of the dog can also influence the diet at the bar.

OFE is suitable for puppies. It promotes a healthy development of the musculoskeletal system and the immune system. Dogs that have grown up with OFE are fitter, more agile and healthier, as their organism could develop without incriminating feed components.

Since OFE dispenses with unnecessary fillers, the feed is almost completely recycled. Therefore, little remains about what the dog has to retire. Dogs are often calm because their organism is not burdened with the processing of unsuitable feed components. OFE also makes the coat dense and silky and reduces the odor of the dog.

The possibility of freezing allows OFE ingredients to be purchased in larger quantities, which reduces the purchase price. Bred pets can easily respond to quotes and simply freeze excess meat or resort to frozen food. In addition, if seasonal fruits and vegetables are fed, bare feet is no more expensive than feeding with a high-quality canned or dry food.

Summary

  • The food can be adapted to the needs of the dog at any time.
  • The organism of the animal is spared from artificial additives and grain.
  • The animals are fitter, more agile, healthier, calmer, more relaxed.
  • The coat is dense and silky.
  • The smell is significantly lower.
  • The Imunsystem is stronger.
  • The musculature and ligaments of the animal are stronger.
  • Puppies do not / rarely suffer from growth problems.
  • Dogs suffer significantly less from parasite infestation.
  • Often only a few vet visits are required.
  • OFE is cheaper.

What are the risks at the bar?

The main risk at OFE is simply the responsibility. The correct compilation of a proper meal requires a certain amount of training. In order to provoke neither a deficiency nor an oversupply, all nutrients have to be fed in a balanced manner. However, this is easier than often assumed. Because it is not important that every OFE meal is completely balanced, but that the conditions fit the entire diet. By a varied compilation of the diet, the balance usually results on its own. After initial calculations, dog owners develop a sense of real bargain relatively quickly. A residual risk exists with the bone feeding, Dogs who are not used to it may have problems at the beginning. Too hard bones often lead to tooth fractures or digestive problems. Therefore, a slow habituation to bone feeding is required. If you are still concerned, you can feed bones that have already recovered or are using bone meal.

How much food does my dog need?

An important question at the OFE is how much food a dog should get when fed raw. Overall, this question can not be answered, since the feeding amount depends on various factors. These include weight, age, race and general activity of the dog. Basically, it is assumed that the balanced amount of food equals 2 to 4 percent of body weight. Big dogs get less food in relation to body weight, small breeds rather more. Dogs are very active, they need more raw meat and vegetables than older dogs, which move only slightly. Dogs in growth and pregnant bitches have a particularly high demand.

The calculation of the amount of feed

For the balanced barn of the dog above all the meat portion of the food, the bowl must be sufficiently high. It should not only be pure meat – even meaty bones and lamb offal are important for the daily needs of nutrients.

The proportion of meaty components should be about 70 to 90 percent. Starting with a feed quantity equal to 3 percent of the body weight, a German shepherd with an average weight of 35 kilograms receives 1050 grams of feed per day. The meat content of balanced OFE between 735 and 945 grams. In a dachshund with 8 kilograms of body weight, about 240 grams are fed daily, the meat content is 168 to 216 grams. The rest of the food is made up of fruits, vegetables (see also: fruit and vegetable traffic lights for dogs), Eggs and dairy products together. It may like variety in the bowl prevail: Both the meats and the other ingredients can be varied at will and taste to ensure a species-appropriate diet.

OFE is a very flexible and appropriate nutrition that can be customized to meet the needs of the dog.

The biggest OFE misunderstandings

(A) OFE makes dogs aggressive: This rumor persists but does not correspond to the facts. Rather, the opposite is the case. Since the organism of a bred dog is not burdened by unsuitable feed components, these dogs are often more relaxed and feel more comfortable.

(B) Dogs get worms from raw meat: Again, this is not correct. The meat used complies with the standards that also apply to human consumption. In addition, meat and offal usually do not contain infectious worm stages. Once the meat has been frozen, temperatures of minus 18 to minus 20 degrees have killed all potential worm stages. Bare dogs also have a gastrointestinal environment that avoids a worm infestation mostly by itself.

(C) Raw meat is a salmonella hazard: Since raw animal meat processing has the same hygiene standards as those for human consumption, the salmonella risk is identical to that found in human food. In addition, carnivores often feed on carrion without becoming ill. Most germs do not survive contact with aggressive stomach acid anyway.

(D) OFE is expensive: If you compare the raw meat feed with a high-quality dry food, OFE is usually even cheaper. The required amount of feed is lower than for dry food. Nutrients are better utilized, which makes the dog feel better, suffer less from diet-related illnesses and therefore often less often have to be introduced to a veterinarian.

(E) OFE is complicated: Of course, the OFE theme is initially more complex than the walk in the next Zooladen and the subsequent opening of the food can. Once you have read into the topic but OFE is no longer complicated. You know which components are needed in which ratio and make a meal out of them. Very easily.
